Living in Paradise at Playa Serena, Nueva Gorgona. My friend and I have been in Nueva Gorgona for almost one year. It certainly doesn’t feel like it has been that long! I suppose that is because we feel like we live in Paradise. Living in Panama is heavenly but we also live in Playa Serena which is nestled in Nueva Gorgona, so our feeling of living in paradise is doubled.
Nueva Gorgona is an old fishing village with a vibrant town. The roads to Playa Serena are narrow and well-paved. “Convenience” stores are interspersed with a few small restaurants. Open air bars provide latin music that can be heard on the beach. To get to Playa Serena, one goes down a short gravel road that curves around to the entrance. When we pulled up to the booth, the security guard was very nice and connected us with the person who was to show us the two condos. The young man took us up to a high floor to see the first condo. The first thing we saw when we went through the door was the sliding glass door out to the balcony. WOW! The view of the ocean was amazing!! Just what we had wanted!
It was our dream to be able to get up in the morning and walk out to the living room and see that wide expanse of ocean. Seeing the ocean gave me such a feeling of peace. We can also see the pool from our balcony. It is perfectly sized and sparkles in the sunlight. Beautifully landscaped grounds with swaying palm trees and native flowers surround the pool. Small bohios are scattered on the property with one large bohio at the pool. An added bonus to Playa Serena is the Exercise room. Located near the pool, the floor to ceiling windows allow a view of the landscaping and the ocean.
We ended up with a middle floor condo and have felt very lucky to live here. The staff is friendly and helpful and knowledgeable. The crew does a terrific job of keeping Playa Serena looking lovely. Just recently an additional handicap ramp was added to the parking garage. We have wonderful neighbors from many different countries. We feel very lucky to be living in the paradise that is Playa Serena.
